It started with B2Ten founder Dominick Gauthier last week, USA Swimming yesterday, and now USA Track & Field (USA Athletics) is asking for a postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games, amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.
USA T&F Chief Mark Siegel is urging the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee to support a postponement of the Olympic Games.
These are just a few voices but represent a growing sentiment among athletes and their federations.
Many, if not the majority of athletes have had their training, preparation, and form altered by the global outbreak.
Amidst all the pressure and concerns, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe mentioned yesterday that he is still ruling out postponing, scaling back or even having the Olympic Games held behind-closed-doors.
As of yesterday, no decision has been taking and the organizing committee is going ahead with the planned dates of July 24-August 9.
